Here’s a gift card I got today at Target:
And here’s what it looks like when you push the power button on the front (just to the left of the Target symbol):
Woah! It has four LEDs built into it and looks amazing. Easily the best gift card I have ever seen. The best thing is that it is more or less free, since there is no limit on how much (ie. how little) you put on it nor how soon you can spend it. So I put $10 on it, and then immediately redeemed it to buy the rest of our order π
Oh yes, and the Wii logo doesn’t hurt. In addition to my game collection I have a fairly large collection of paraphenalia, so this fits nicely. Maybe I should scan and post some of my collection one day…
Does it have a battery? It would be really interesting if it generated it’s own power when you shook it or from the heat of your hands or simply from stray radio waves in the air.
I’d be interested in viewing some of this paraphernalia – but only the oddest and most obscure items, mind. It’d be worth an item (or two small items) from your Christmas List below π
Yes it has a battery. 4 LED’s = approximately 7.2V of power is needed. Generating that from ‘radio waves’ (aka an RFID circuit) is impossible. It’s theoretically possible to get that from shaking the card, but I expect it would be more expensive to manufacture such an item that the card as is.
Oh yes, I expect the battery to die in a month or so π
