Yesterday I received an award from the UAlbany Physics Department. The award is the C.L. Andrews Teaching Assistant Of The Year Award. Here’s a shot of me receiving it from Professor Caticha at yesterdays 2009 recognition ceremony:
I was quite happy to receive this. It was both a complete surprise (I am not even a TA anymore) and an honor since I feel the department is using the award as a “thank you” for the teaching I have done these past four semesters. If you look at the picture you may notice a cheque in my hand as well – it was very generous, and the timing is perfect considering our trip next week!
I think perhaps this will go down as my second most esteemed award I have yet received in my lifetime. I have to get cracking if I one day want to receive an award surpassing the Bishop Leo Clarke Award For Leadership (1989 recipient) 🙂
