Winter Break

It’s winter break this week, which means no classes and no teaching. What am I doing this break you ask?

Cleaning.

A room a day, starting with the bedroom today. Cleaning, dusting, sorting – I want to get it all done. The rest of the week I’ll do the library, study, kitchen and living room. Hopefully I can be thorough!

Of course I’m also planning to do some class prep (I went to school briefly this morning and did a little) and work on my doctoral paper (by ‘work’ I mean ‘start’). And of course play a lot of games (I’ve been getting into the PS3 a lot recently, and Street Fighter IV comes out this week…)

The Big Birthday Countdown Part Two: 3 Weeks

I know you’ve been on the edges of your seats waiting, so here it is – the weekly update!

Since  last week my advanced extrasenses have picked up a sort of susurrus of the beginnings of birthday preparations. I don’t want to tip my hat, but I’ll say that I know about Person A thinking about perhaps purchasing me Item X… And although the range of my super-senses doesn’t extend that far, I also feel it’s likely those on distant shores may have already purchased the redskins and are close to packing them up and mailing them over…

I also have a feeling that one of my siblings (again, I don’t want to give too much away) has decided this year to really make my day grand, and is putting more effort than ever into selecting wonderful gifts for me 🙂

What’s that? You want more details? Well, far be it from me to utterly wreck my birthday and give away the gifts beforehand BUT, well I have an inkling that I may be receiving a toaster oven this year…

I’ve decided that to add a bit of variety to the great day this year I may adopt a hinamatsuri theme to the festivities. With that in mind, I’m hoping my event planner is reading this, and takes care of the organization.

As for me, now that I’m seven days closer to 37, how am I feeling about that? Well, to quote The Bard:

“There was a star danced, and under that was I born.
