Yesterday was our 16th anniversary! Yay!

Thanks for the cards and the cake and the chickens 🙂

(I promise I’ll start blogging more… it’s just my room is so hot these days!)

The Most Elusive Of Prey

Monday, July 20th, 2009

The moment some of you have been waiting for – the return of the wildlife camera!

This time I placed it next to our front steps, angled at a point I had a hunch about…

Here’s the results:

Finally, shots of the chipmunks that live in our front garden!

But, as you can see here, they’re not the only guys to hang out on our steps:

Now we’ve seen squirrels, chipmunks, deer and birds in the photos. But I know of another type of mammal occasionally seen in our garden. I wonder if (or even how?) I can capture some shots of that…

The Sting

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Yesterday, whilst mowing the lawn, I was stung on the back of my right calf by a wasp.

It hurt like hell!  Within seconds the area around the sting had started to swell up and turn a deathly white. It would eventually be about egg sized before (about an hour later) starting to return to normal. Of course we had no appropriate medicine at home, so I just endured. Even now, almost 24 hours later, I can still feel a slight tinge at the place of the sting.

I did manage to see the culprit. It wasn’t a yellowjacket – it was bigger and blacker.

Or maybe not. The wildlife camera was turned on yesterday and I just now retrieved this shot, taken at the exact moment I was attacked.

As you can see I am lucky to be alive!

Out To Lunch…

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

…for 30 straight days. (Or maybe even 32, since I didn’t plan this and wasn’t keeping track.)

What this means is, for 30 days in a row, I have eaten lunch out. Every single one of these meals was paid for, at a restaurant (often fast food.)

I’m honestly not sure what to make of this fact. I welcome some commentary – is this something to be proud of?
