Crank 2 Is A Masterpiece

Saw Crank 2 last night. Holy cow that was a good film!

Go read this review and come back…

That guy nails it. Everything about Crank is absurdly over-the-top, offensive and objectionable. But underneath it all the film is clearly a labour of love, made by a guy with an appreciative eye for pop culture of all times and more specifically otaku culture. I mean the opening (and bits of the ending) is 8-bit! And one lengthy fight sequence is a godzilla tribute using Kaiju suits of Jason Statham and the bad dude.

The whole film is like No More Heroes in real life.

And the ending… woah the ending!

This is the best film I have seen in years. You HAVE to see it!

Somewhere Someone Laughs

So here it is, the ‘Cosmic Hand’ photo released by Nasa:

The photo was taken by a space telescope, and shows the discharge from a Nebula light years from Earth.

It looks remarkably like a hand doesn’t it? And I just know someone at Nasa took a look at this and remembered the ‘face on mars’ and just knew they had something similar on their hands!

Mark my words – someone somewhere (perhaps on a dark corner of the fringe internet) is going to put this forward as a ‘photo of god’ or some such malarky.

Come to think of it though… it does kinda resemble Ultraman’s hand doesn’t it?

Sausage and Daisy in a commercial together…

I find it intriguing that although Monster Hunter is a mega-hardcore dragon/beast hunting game series with amazing amounts of customization and some extreme challenges, it is actually more popular with female gamers!

Hence such adverts!
