Taronga

It was much cooler and overcast yesterday so I took advantage of the break in the heat and went to the zoo. It’d been four years since I last went and there were many changes.

That’s a red kangaroo! I bet you’ve never seen one of them on this blog before 🙂

That’s an (endangered) Bilby, which usually runs about like crazy and is difficult to see since it’s the nocturnal house. Happily this guy paused in the (only) spotlight long enough for me to get a great look at him.

As usual I particularly enjoyed the birds. There were a couple of walk-through aviaries and the birds were very active and even friendly.

Overall, two thumbs up and still as good a zoo as it has ever been.

Right now we’re getting ready to head to the airport to return home. I’m super tired and ready to go back, but at the same time dreading the trip.

I hope you enjoyed this trip blog.

Sunnyboys

We started yesterday at the currency museum in Sydney which is small but very good! Upon hearing about this place someone I know (Sue!) dismissed it as boring but it’s certainly worth the visit if you’re at all interested in currency.

We did the touristy stuff yesterday, including visiting the opera house, circular quay and a ferry to darling harbour.

Those photos are taken from the ferry!

That’s at the mall in darling harbour. Thanks to AW for the shot.

We played loads of magic at night, using our new ‘rare pile’ format, which was a great success.

It’s Hot

Yesterday was very hot. Possibly the hottest of this trip. Walking around Sydney as we did the breezes were few and far between so we aimed for AC whenever possible. Even so the heat limited what we could get done. I hope it gets cooler!

‘Typical’ Newtown street art (?). The anarchists and socialists are as active as they ever were, and I can’t help but wonder if they are the same old same old or a newer generation. I remember posters such as these in Newtown almost 30 years ago!

The boys at Newtown Oporto. It was hot there 🙂

We went to the UFO catchers, as I always do, and they sucked our money as they always do. However one machine was opportunistically stocked and we managed to use advanced UFO-catching techniques to all win Sudowoodoos:

Not long after we caught a train of all things…

To Bondi Junction, where we were apalled to find the better of the two foodcourts had been replaced by an H&M! A genuine shame.

The evening was more cricket and MTG sitting around the fan 🙂
