About…23 days ago I sat down at 4pm and switched on BBC America and watched the first episode of the legendary TV series The Prisoner. Yesterday I watched the final (17th) episode, and I did not miss one during the entire run (and I never even taped it, I watched it all live).
Holy Cow what a good series that one was! I had never watched it in it’s entirety – indeed I can only recall seeing an episode or two during my youth. So it was an unexpected treat to be able to see it and finally realise what all the fuss is about.
The wikipedia entry reveals that the fervour over the series is as strong as ever, even to the point of it being remade for US television (to be screened January 2008) and that a movie is planned as well. Interesting…
I Mum watched The Prisoner faithfully when on here in Australia. It was one of my favourite shows. The Actor Patrick M’cGoohanan was a seminarian before an actor. Even my mum liked him.
It’s very nice to know that I had so much fun watching this show that you yourself watched (and enjoyed) over 35 years ago in your youth 🙂
Patrick McGoohan was fantastic as the prisoner. His slightly humoured stare alone could speak volumes.
