I just discovered that a good chunk of Waikiki is in 3D in Google Earth. For instance, go to the hotel we will be staying in at Latitude 21°16’38.04″N, Longitude 157°49’44.51″W and turn on 3D buildings. It’s very impressive!
Furthermore, it’s exciting to see how close to the beach the hotel is 🙂
Unfortunately much of the rest of Hawaii is still very low res in Google Earth. Probably because the islands are so remote and out of the way for the satellites. The 3D buildings and extremely high-res aspects of Waikiki are so impressive I suspect the city was scanned by aircraft as opposed to satellites.
Completely switching topics now, if you have a DS (or PSP, but buy the DS version over the PSP version) you should go and buy Puzzle Quest. It’s an RPG-puzzle hybrid that uses the game bejwelled as the ‘combat system’ and is not only lots of fun, but very, very addictive. Furthermore it’s made by the guys that made the Warlords games way back when, and the RPG and strategy aspects of Puzzle Quest are solid as a result.
There is a PC demo available, but seriously if you have the handheld just take my word for it and go buy this fabulous game.
